The Epigramma Paulini, a late-antique poem of uncertain date and authorship, consists of a dialogue structured on the model of the first Vergilian Eclogue. The poem presents a unique blend of pastoral and satire: the outside world, torn by war, becomes a canvas upon which another struggle, that between vice and virtue, takes shape. This study provides the first full-scale commentary of the Epigramma Paulini and includes an introduction to its historical and literary context, a revision of Schenkl's CSEL edition, an English translation and detailed commentary notes on the language and ideas of the poem.
