Don't Get A Divorce But Please Do Get A Divorce!

Divorce: What a scandalous word! So how did we get here? In the days before the internet, humans had another friend - the letter. When people fell in love, it was a fall for letter writing. All of a sudden, a damsel who had always felt bothered whenever her dad sent her to the post office would make a U-turn and be willing to go there even before her father said the word. On her way, her heart beats faster but yet there is an unmistaken, decided elegance in her walk, she greets everyone with a smile and even waves at her perceived enemies. She can't wait to see the Post Master's face. Buy yet; it is not his face that she seeks but the face of another man, hidden in an envelope, painted in words and electrified by unseen emotions. She grabs the letter from the Post Master, her hands quivering with delight and her face shining like that of an angel as she gasps for the air of love for her lungs of love. She vanishes home, for words fail to describe the speed with which she departs for her shelter. The envelope is not yet opened. It is her custom to delay its opening until she had fully enjoyed its presence in her passionate hands; she moves it slowly away from her eyes and wonders what fine words laid in that diamond mine for her. Now she holds it against her chest as the tears roll down her cheeks. She refuses to wipe her tears for those rivers that burn her eyes, stream from within her soul and the more they flowed, the more assured she was that her beloved is hers and she is his. Alas, the envelope pops open, for she could no longer forbear. The opening words, "My Chloe" melts her heart. Her joy is unconfined, her smile, none can take from her. She looks away from the piece of paper in her hands and beholds his face in the eastern sky through her window. Now she hugs her pillow and starts reading all over again. "My Chloe, These last two months have been the most difficult of my life. Being away from you is like leaving heaven for hell. My spirit within my body yearns to see your beautiful face and hear your sweet voice. The war is intense. My commanding officer has ordered that no letter home should be more than ten lines. Also, no soldier is allowed more than three letters per month. 'One letter to your parents, one to your wife or lady and the other to your pastor to pray for you that you return home with all of your body parts intact.' Those were his thunderous words. I love you Chloe and when I return from this war, I shall put the best ring available on your finger and make you my wife under God. It's me, your Christopher." Chloe is in love! Today, it's social media that carries the thoughts, words, pictures and videos of love birds - texting at work, talking for hours via video calls, exchanging pictures and fine words daily, saying "I love you" and "I love you too" over and over again until the words beg for reprieve. So how does love so strong turn strangely so sour to "I want a divorce?" I have written and published 10 books but this is by far, the shortest book I have ever written. It's January 10 2018 on my Calendar and I plan to publish this book today. I began writing only a few minutes ago and when I woke up this morning, I had no plans to write any book. So this book is straight to the point, blunt, honest and brisk by a blitz. In the following 8 chapters, I will outline the seven don'ts and one do of romantic relationships. If people all over the world use these simple tools wisely, many will be spared a million heartaches. Divorce rate would plummet, children would be happier and the earth would be glad. You can call this book the manual of divorce prevention.
