I've lost count of the days, though it feels as if weeks have passed since the beginning of my captivity. Mostly, I sleep. There's little else to do except write or occasionally interact with Bowser, as the creature likes to be called. He visits me as a child visits a pet rat. We take walks, drink tea and sometimes force small talk. Make no mistake, however; I want out of this dismal place--to be with my friends, tend my garden, ride my beloved yoshi dragons and attend tea parties. Things I took for granted as a sheltered, nurtured princess. Even so, the longer I stay with Bowser, the more I want to know about him. All I understand is what he tells me, and that for some reason he has been working long hours yelling at his officers in that growling, guttural language, abusing those armored turtles and footed mushrooms that comprise his militia. What are they fighting against anyway? Has a war commenced over me? (Cover art by Ville10)
