Du Fu (712-770), a great poet of the Tang Dynasty of China, is a famous and very influential writer in Chinese literary history. Called the "Patron-Saint" of Poetry, his writing is realistic, emphasizing the accurate telling of historic events. Du Fu's influence was very deep in Chinese poetry and literature, as well as Japanese literature. Together, Li Bai, another great Tang poet, and Du Fu are called "LiDu.
