Marie Felt, is a native of New Orleans. The inception of this book was driven and drawn from Marie's own unique life's story. Earlier on in her life she encountered a secret life of emotional and physical abuse. During this time she endured many obstacles that often left her feeling hopeless. Through those hardships her self esteem began to wither away. She became isolated and broken. Along that journey, Marie met many others just like her. It was the love and support of others, where she began to discover her inner strength, which rekindled her strong faith in God, and recreated a new start in life. It is through her transparency that has allowed her to reach the hearts and core of broken women. She relies on her strong faith in God and her powerful intercession of prayer is the heart of what she feels is the vital key to every essence of a woman's new path to life. CHAPTER ONE: BROKEN When you hear the word broken, what comes to mind? Can you identify this word to some areas in your life? Sure you can, we all can at some point in our lives. To be broken may come in many different forms that can attack you by way of words and actions where situations can break you down, emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually that will leave you completely empty. When I hear the word BROKEN, I relate it to my own life's journey who is a BELIEVER who is restored and who overcame falling to her knees while embracing the new ME. So often we as women allow our brokenness to turn into wounds, that turn into scars. These scars become permanent markings that are constant reminders of what we had to endure. As I look at my scars I see them not as reminders of what hurt me or I thought took me out, but as a reminder as to my strength and power in why I am destined to be here. We have all at some point in time, been a part of a break up, being lied upon, subject of a gossip circle, slander, and betrayal. Bitterness will cause you to be alone, isolated and confused as to why the circumstances that are happening in your life are taking place and you will soon realize that you have no clue as to how your life is in a rut such as this. Being broken will cause you to make those around you a casualty of your own wars. During my course of going through an ordeal of secret verbal and physical abuse which I hid from family and friends, I began to not understand or even know who I was at this point and how did I get here. I somehow had lost my own identity and why I was placed on this earth. No one knew what I was facing each day or the pain I had eating away at me from the inside out. There was no light shining in and through me at all during this time. I became accustomed to anger and bitterness that it made me so arrogant and not a pleasure to be around because I became so numb to everything and everyone around me. The bitterness I had built up on the inside of me ate away at me like cancer from the inside out. Being broken will cause you to become numb to your circumstances, cause you not to forgive or be forgiven. You must begin with forgiving yourself first. Being broken will cause you to be in the most isolated darkest place in your life that you MUST face. In your brokenness there is pain, but there is also triumph and victories. You cannot hide from it, block it away or suppress it. It often will cause you to be more broken than what you initially had healed had never begun to scratch the surface of peeling back the layers of that wound. Being broken will expose to you strength, resilience and power you never knew you had. I want to tell you, you can and will be able to pick yourself back up, take those scars, weave them together and allow yourself to be open to being mended by God's forgiveness and unconditional love that He has for you with no judgment. All you have to do is stay in His grip!
