R.E.B.I.R.T.H is an acronym meaning Realizing Everyone Becomes Invincible Right Through Hurt. My work is a self-help guide that chronicles the stages of grief and healing one's emotional life while having been a victim of domestic violence. I do this through the practice of memoir writing relating my individual experiences of abuse with the stages of coping with grief. My work is intended to be targeted to women, especially professional women who are domestic violence survivors that had to rebuild themselves and their lives upon escaping the relationship and universities/colleges nationwide that offer either Women's or Gender Studies. R.E.B.I.R.T.H Memoir: Journey to Acceptance is part of a popular genre of books that include writing/storytelling and healing. The memoir addresses my journey to acceptance while coping with grief of losing myself as I was a victim of an unhealthy marriage and abusive relationship. Statistics show the alarming rates of women who identify as having been in an abusive relationship throughout their lifetime. Recent surveys also show the increase of professional educated women being domestic violence victims have grown tremendously. Most abuse goes unreported. This work uses a self-help guide to provide education and advice to the reader on healthy alternatives to overcome the stages of grief while being in an abusive relationship. The story that was written chronicles me as a woman with a good upbringing, close relationship with her father, college educated, and successful career woman who still was abused and victimized within the privacy of my home and relationship. Despite my career being founded on helping the community and many other battered women as myself, and despite having all the connections and resources to the local shelters, women centers, therapists, and support groups I continued to suffer and grieve in silence because of the shame it brought me to identify as a "victim". By the conclusion of my work, I have discovered acceptance and hope and found my escape. I chronicle the journey from beginning to end in hopes that other women who are well resumed and educated get the strength to also find acceptance and hope using my self- help guide or to be used as an additional reading tool academically in classes categorized under Women Studies.
