An accomplished Native American storyteller, Leo Chosa narrates a small part of the character Paulette DuCharme's life who existed in the fur trade era of voyageurs in the midst of tremendous change for the Ojibwe people. Leo Chosa wrote this work of fiction between 1920 and 1950. He died in 1956. His grandson Donald Chosa Jr found the unpublished manuscripts and edited this tale. Leo was an environmentalist before his time and a prolific writer who strived for the protection of what would later become the Boundary Waters Canoe Area--Back cover.
