A Heartbeat Away is an intriguing mystery that brings the team of Julius 'J.D.' Dickens and Isaiah 'I-Hop' Hopkins, two private detectives, to Las Vegas, where they are hired to find out what really happened to Tommy 'TNT' Gale, a top contender for the middleweight championship, who dies on the same night that he easily wins a fight that would have guaranteed him a fight for the championship.
