Sometimes, love is an obsession that destroys. In David Orsini's novel The Woman Who Loved Too Well, a young war hero (Marc Roussillon) draws his wife (Simone) into a dangerous plan that eventually becomes a scenario of betrayal and revenge. Marc persuades Simone to use her influence upon a young Nazi officer (Gerhard Hauptmann) so that the Germans will free a captured RAF pilot. Gerhard, who is unaware that she is married and that she is an agent for the Resistance, agrees to the plan only if Simone will sleep with him. During their tryst in Lausanne, she falls in love with Gerhard. When Marc discovers what has happened, he plans not only to kill Gerhard, but also to involve Simone in the killing. But Marc's plan unfolds in ways that he does not anticipate. In tense scenes that occur in England, Marc, Simone, and Gerhard play out the bitter resolution of their triangle.
