¿Birthright is a story introducing an ominous lake, a girl with a haunted past, and the disturbing burden she carries because of it. Sierra Russo has the type of tragedy in her young life that most people would never experience. Orphaned at a young age, she only has vague memories of her family. The fifteen year old whose parents and baby sister died and left her to be raised by her uncle is haunted by dreams of her ill-fated past. She was left alone but Sierra was left with a gift. She calls it a legacy - and this legacy completely changed her life around. Sierra's 'legacy' is the fact that she was born on the water at Old Indian Lake and delivered on a canoe by an aged Seminole who haunts her most of her life. It was through that unusual birth that she gained an eerie power over water.
