Gabe is a white corporate lawyer who participates in demonstrations occasionally. Jasminn is a black former college basketball player, computer expert and non-violent left wing activist. She plays a key role in helping Gabe. The events and dangers cause them to recognize their deeper feelings for each other as they slowly become lovers and ultimately more. Gabe is forced to undertake dangerous actions and is placed in extreme situations to entice leftist leaders to recruit him so he can find the demanded information. The agents first imprison him in a cell with suspected leftists. One is with the left, but the others turn out to be an undercover FBI agent investigating the left; an enemy foreign agent under cover as an alt-rightist infiltrating the left; and an alt-righter doing the same. Gabe seeks his cell mates' true loyalties, while each tries to use Gabe for his own ends. The agents later force Gabe to fight at the forefront of a major street battle between extremists to lure the Antifa. Gabe's determination to be free from the government's threats and control increases and he takes measures to do so, including deceiving their agents. Gabe unearths clues about a planned terrorist attack using stolen Army weapons, and he discovers who is behind this-it is a false flag operation by the alt-right intended to blame the Antifa. Trying to prevent the attack, he alerts the agents, but he and Jasminn are captured by the alt-right terrorists. SWAT teams attack and defeat the terrorists. During this assault, Gabe and Jasminn discover that one government agent who has been directing Gabe is conspiring with the alt-right. To keep his role hidden, the agent is about to kill them, but the agent's partner kills him first. The government ceases its threats against Gabe so he no longer must assist them. The false flag attack becomes public, turning many people against the right, however the cabal (which was instrumental in the planned false flag operation) intends to carry on, confident that the public can be made to dismiss this as they have other actions in the past.
