Red Earth is a sprawling prose poem and source code for Michael Salu's broader interdisciplinary artistic study. Conversing with Dante, probabilistic computation and Yoruba metaphysics, Red Earth is a meditation on the precarity of life and death. Engaging geographical dissonance and varied cultural interpretations of time and morality, Red Earth eventually questions what the virtual realm means for the self and memory, and in particular, memories unacknowledged by the dichotomous 'universal' language of code.
