Two of the earliest Free Baptist ministers and writers that wrote on the subject of the Freedom of the Will were Enoch Mack, M.D. and Dr. Ransom Dunn. Mack in 1833 signed the Declaration of Sentiments put forth by the Anti-Slavery Society movement and became attracted to the Free Baptists because of their anti-slavery sentiments and became an early contributor to the Morning Star. In 1835 William Burr suggested he move to Dover, New Hampshire where he became the pastor of the First Free Will church. He later became the Corresponding Secretary of the Foreign and Home Mission Societies but still was an editorial contributor of the Morning Star. Dunn, was also an early pastor in Dover at the Washington Ave. Free Baptist Church which still remains today as the Dover Baptist Church. He was known for his leadership as an educator at Rio Grande College and Geauga Seminary both in Ohio and Hillsdale College in Michigan. He was an excellent speaker and notable writer. Both contributed to the Freedom of the Will in this book as separate writings.
