The Body in the Bog begins, appropriately, with an overdressed body stuck on a stump, floating in the murky heart of Ibis Creek Condominium. Since the victim, JJ Amos, was a bull-headed collections lawyer for Ibis Creek, his fatal dunking is sad but really good news for many an underwater owner. Normally, those happy folks would be called suspects, but Collier County's provisional line is death by misadventure, a slip and fall, relegating it to its back-burner.Decker doesn't buy the accident angle. Half the time, he wanted Amos dead himself. Hubble doesn't either and it was his call. Webster is ambivalent about any dead lawyer. Decker volunteers to be Hubble's virtual bloodhound, searching Amos' collection cases for clues that ultimately lead them to a face-to-face with an unexpectedly dangerous killer.
