Hope's War

Hope Summers likes honey sandwiches, all things 'Winnie-the-Pooh' related and Dylan Jones, a boy with 'big' ears. On the other hand, Hope Summers dislikes Brussels sprouts, cold rice pudding, a boy named Ted Sykes and the German dictator, Adolf Hitler. In fact, it's her dislike of the latter that inspires the girl to write a letter that begins 'Dear Mr. Hitler'. Set during the Second World War, this novel is a humorous account of life on the home front and one girl's attempt to do 'her bit' for her country, a country at war with Hitler's Nazi Germany.
