A collection of stories from the author and contributors of Yooper hospitality and generosity. Yoopers are natives or residents of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The author and his family are from the South (north Florida area) and couldn't help but notice the unique brand of Northern hospitality bestowed upon them by their new neighbors in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. As such, he felt obliged to write a nonfiction book of his brushes with Yooper hospitality and generosity. Although it is not the author's intention for the book to pit Yooper hospitality against its Southern counterpart, one can't help but to draw comparisons between the two. Ultimately, this is a fast paced but detailed glimpse into life in the Upper Peninsula and all the various hardships faced by Yoopers on a regular basis. Life in an oftentimes harsh and unforgiving climate has its own set of challenges and demands. As such, one must have what the Finnish people who first migrated to this region refer to as "Sisu" in order to survive and thrive in such a cold and snowy environment. One must also be able to rely on his neighbors from time to time, and the author firmly believes there isn't a place in America where that is more possible than Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
