This book is my story; who I am and what I believe. The title "The Drunken Preacher" is not because of addiction or my bent in life, but you will have to read the book to know more about that. I have been called many names in my lifetime. My mother and father named me Edward. I was called Ed and Eddie a lot when I was little. People have even called me "Mr. Ed" because of the TV show about the horse. After I added another d to the name and it became Edd, so some called me "Two Ds" or "Double D." I have always been quite comfortable with me. I sometimes wished I was a bit taller; even my mom was taller than me. And didn't always like my "four-eyes," as the kids in grammar school used to call me, but this is who I am. Who I am, the essence of me, well, that is the subject of this book. To know that story you have to read on and when you get to the end of the book you will find out why sometimes people call me, "the Drunken Preacher," for all the right reasons. I am not really a Drunken Preacher. I am not, nor have I ever been a drunk preacher, maybe drunk a few times in life, but never in the office or the pulpit. No, this story is about my life and the title comes from a happy memory which I'll tell you about later in the book. Going through school I never expected to end up as a preacher and when I became a preacher I often wished I could get out of the role. But alas, God had a different idea about the direction of my life and looking back there is very little I would want to change. I tell this story mostly for my kids and grand kids who have heard some of the stories but far from all that this book contains. And I tell it for anyone who wants to know about my life or even, the life of a preacher; I hope you find insight into how I think God has been active in my life and continues to work in me and through me. Because of all that I believe God has done for me, I desire, more than anything else, to help other people find at least a small amount of the joy I have found having faith in God. May good things come your way, as you read the words of my story.
