Wise people always tell us, "Follow your dreams. Go after the thing your heart beats for, the thing that makes you get up in the morning."I didn't know what I had done wrong. I followed my heart. I tried to make my dreams come true, like everyone always said. But somehow, I ended up in this mess. I lost everyone-my friends, my family, and my one and only love. I was ruined to pieces. And the worst part was that I didn't even want to do what I loved anymore.I loved football. But I also hated it for taking everything from me. The "follow your dreams" advice should come with a warning sign that says you will lose everything in return. Nobody told us about the price we had to pay if we wanted to follow what our hearts desired. That one little thing you laugh at and shrug off without a second thought could turn your life upside down.Every dash across the field fell heavily upon my grades. Every practice match meant time away from my family and my love. And every win confirmed my abilities and increased my bond with football, leaving no space for anything else.I wish I had known that before everything happened. I wish I had known where I'd end up if I didn't take things more seriously. And I wish I had realized sooner that it was more than just a game.
