Cammie is a healthy little girl who lives with her mother, father, little sister Prissy and her grandmother. She especially loves her grandma because she makes her feel safe and loved. Cammie thinks there is something wrong with her because she hates her mother and yet loves her too. She feels lonely and scared many times. Her daddy works nights and she doesn't feel safe with her mother. Prissy gets to share a room with Grandma but Cammie has to sleep by herself. After Daddy goes to work, Mom gives hot chocolate to everyone at bedtime. Cammie feels tired and notices that her mother locks Grandma's bedroom door after she and Prissy retire for the night. When she asks her mother why; she is threatened to keep her mouth shut. When Cammie feels threatened or scared she zones out and doesn't remember what happened.
