Gamblers either won or lost, and those who survived always knew how not to go broke too often. Or in hock too much to the wrong people. And the Hookers? Well, treat a Hooker like a Lady, and you'll get all you want. At a discount. And, sometimes, a lot of freebies. And the Hustlers? Just don't get out-hustled, that's all. If you knew your way around, no one would fuck with you, and that's a fact. At least that's like it was, back then. All of them, too. Tyrone, Mushi, Harry the Bank, the Lieutenant, Johnny Pico, Louis the Loser ... even me and Mellanie. All of us. Just dust in the wind - or so it seems now.
