In 2010, Houston, Texas saw the birth of a new poetry journal called Harbinger Asylum. The journal sought to publish poets in Houston as well as internationally to draw attention to the Houston scene. Our Fall 2018 edition contains poems by younger poets that share a generous potential to become original thinkers and poets. There are also some fascinating established poets whose work deserves attention. Harbinger Asylum seeks original verse about a variety of topics expressed with originality. This journal is a beacon to poetry's destiny worldwide. The United States, while not placing much value on the craft, is turning to read and share poems in recent years. These poems will hone your ambiguity, develop your critical thinking, and induce an eloquent use of language. Reading poetry makes one a better poet. What better place to start than a popular journal out of the poetry-rich city of Houston? Our mission is to seek poetry in the dark corners of life, in the bright limelight as well, and throughout the history of the spectacular human race. Language has guided our evolution. Brilliance is a subjective term so do not be afraid to like or dislike poems featured here. We'd love your feedback. Leave a review!
