Overview
This book takes place in a small West Texas town where the environment is harsh and jobs are sparse. The primary employer is an oil company where the pay is exceptionally good but it is a risky place to work. Explosions light up the Western sky often for no known reason. Injuries and deaths have occurred three times. The word on the grapevine is that the oil fields will be shut down by the EPA until the cause of the explosions is known. When paychecks dry up families are hurting and on the edge of foreclosure for their ranches. One such person is Paul who just bought the ranch he dreamed of owning as well as dealing with brain injury and a broken arm and a leg. He wouldn't work again for weeks. Where did he and his fiancée Caroline go from here?
