One might be tempted to think that skewering one's targets with a little gentle humour (or some biting satire if one can summon the necessary energy) ought to be enough to bring them to their knees, to allow people to see through the respectable outer veneer to the inner venal stupidity, and to laughingly expose those facets of modern life that consist only of tacky emptiness and falsehood. And yet there seems to be a never-ending stream of idiots, evolutionary throwbacks, who are prepared to stick their heads above the parapet, to peddle their own brand of truth, and then to be surprised when they are finally rumbled. You couldn't, as they say, make some of this stuff up. Indeed, in this modern world of so-called "fake news", it's getting ever harder to determine where objective truth and real honesty can actually be found. And so we are faced with an unwelcome choice: do we just sit here quietly, just banging the rocks together? or do we stop playing nicely and decide to laugh at it all? "Karma" and "hubris" are just two of the words you won't find in this little collection, but you might want to bear them in mind. You can thank me later.
