The author of the book, Darry Borisova, established the Andy and Aya Academy for Children from the Deaf Community in Bulgaria in 2017, where she works with deaf children and their families. Darry herself is a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) and a member of the Deaf community, raised with the challenges of Deaf people in Bulgaria. She is also a qualified Deaf therapist and Sign Language interpreter.
