There are a number of books on the market about the Baby Boomer generation, some telling nostalgic stories about roller skates and hula hoops and how good the times were. Others talk about our generation in the present tense, about staying fit and managing your retirement income or looking for that special hobby or second career. This memoir is unique, in that, on completion, the series of three books follows the life of one Baby Boomer from the first to nearly the last moment. A boy from South Texas, his family, friends, loves, travels, puberty, ups, downs and all-arounds. War, marriage, deaths, good times, bad times, and everything in between. Dogs and horses and cars and maybe a few other things, too. This is Part One, covering no small distance between 1945 and 1968. Part Two, which is already in print, is entitled "Blue Water, Brown Water: Stories of Life in the Navy and in Vietnam," and covers the period 1968 through 1971, a critical time for this boy and for the country.Part Three is now in the formative stage. As with the first two, it will virtually write itself because of the unlimited treasury of stories provided me by life. I am not a gifted writer but I have been so fortunate to be surrounded by people and events that beg to be written about. As I have told people regarding "Blue Water, Brown Water," it is a first-person mini-history of the times. My three volumes will be my lasting contribution to the history of the next-to-the Greatest Generation, the Baby Boomers. One seventy-seven millionth of the great story.
