Barefoot in the Himalaya

Someone asked me once if I had really gone barefoot in the Himalaya, and the truth is that yes, I did. In 1974. I believe the highest of the mountain passes I crossed barefoot was above three thousand meters. I do not remember my feet hurting during those four days of forced shoe less adventure. Perhaps, because I was so exhilarated by the amazing depth of the Himalayan scenery and so enthralled by the small, remote villages where we stopped for the night, that any pain or discomfort was relegated to the distant back of my mind and ignored. That said, Barefoot In The Himalayas follows A Monkey For All Seasons, my first novel, and the long series of adventures that has been my life continues.
