Mental Illness doesn't always have to be a preexisting condition from birth, or a disease obtained through genetics. It can be self-induced and or influenced by environmental circumstances through out the duration of a person's life span. This novel is a heart touching and simply intriguing story of the life of Mae, a woman adopted at two months old by relatives. It tells of her struggles and how she endured from knowing that her biological mother was molested and become pregnant with her at twelve years old. Mae's biological Mother went on to have more children, but it left her daughter complacent, with feeling of rejection, and insecurities. Mae's pain and suffering increased when her adopted mother began battling alcohol that grew increasingly destructive and eventually caused her marriage to spiral out of control. She was slowly driven deeper into an abyss of mental anguish, based on her life experiences, the lack of family support, and spiritual immaturity. Embark on this journey with Mae and explore the misconceptions of how mental illness can exist from years without being labeled "crazy" by some family members and ignored by society due to embarrassment and a lack of understanding.
