Destani shares a short summary of events in her life at the age 4 that are raw and honest and, in some ways, have been confronting to relive these events when writing these short stories.Taking a step back into these experiences and to see them through the eyes of a child and then review them again as an adult may help to acknowledge the way we felt and release some of the hurt and anger associated to these events.She believes it is necessary to become comfortable with the uncomfortable by having the courage to be vulnerable and sharing her own truth, as this has allowed hundreds of youth and adults to see the light in some of these situations and start much needed conversations to help people move forward to lead better lives.
