Each police station received a quick anonymous phone call: "Two people are going to die. You'll guess about the first, but the second will leave no questions. I will autograph that one for you." The first kill zone was Seattle, Washington. Three months later victim sixteen was murdered in Kansas City, Kansas. The first death in each city always appeared to be a random act, but never the second. The Stickman Killer signed each second victim with a stick figure drawing to prove the murders were his and payment was due. A well funded team formed to track the killer. They journeyed through desert sandstorms and bitter December skies, always two steps behind the killer. Concern built about the serial killer's identity and motives. The entity financing the team seemed to have far more knowledge of the killer's activities than any outside observer should...including where the killer would strike next. The team began to fear that the killer was one of their own. A political war broke out between a wealthy financier, a mysterious high ranking client, and a team member suddenly being accused of murder.
