From Longbourn To Pemberley - Summer 1811

Before launching ourselves into the intrigues that build in this summer of 1811, it would be good to remember the universally acknowledged truth that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife. This truth, so dear to Jane Austen, will never be so obvious as it is in this fourth season which, this time, truly leads us from Longbourn to Pemberley.And yet one would be mistaken to think that it is the shortest paths that are most often taken. Rather, it seems that human nature being what it is, it is invariably the long and winding paths that are taken, at least for the most part. That is why, along the way, one would not be surprised to feel a great deal of sympathy for George Knightley or Henry Tilney, or at best, exasperation towards dear Caroline Bingley or her charming friend, Augusta Elton. And what can be said of the meanderings of Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy?One thing is certain: it is clear that the world is much smaller than we imagine it to be, as several characters cross paths without knowing that a fine thread links them to an acquaintance, a guest, or even a simple passerby.
