On her own after her mother's passing and her father in a nursing home, Penny often feels overwhelmed and second guesses herself. With her faithful dog, Derik, and cantankerous cat, Zaz, Penny spends her free time wading through years of accumulation in the family home. She is up to her elbows in yesteryear until the day she sees her new neighbor. Outside chores are now much more appealing and her newest project is keeping an eye on the attractive man next door.
