The Catholic Cowboy Way: Finding Peace And Purpose On The Bronc Called Life

From the Introduction: People often ask me when I knew I wanted to be a priest. I reply that I never wanted to be a priest and I still don't. But God created me for this and I am more happy and fulfilled in this way of life than anything I could have ever imagined. But I have to daily trust that Dad knows best. Left solely to my own passions, my life would be a train wreck. However, when I listen to the Father and trust that He has my best interests in mind, I'm the happiest man alive. So how do we get there? Jesus. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. He is our big brother who has plowed the way Home. He teaches us by example how to handle life. He guides us by the wisdom of His Catholic Church. And most of all, He continues to lead us by the voice of His Spirit dwelling in our hearts. I have no problem saying that Jesus is a cowboy. He's brave. He's bold. But most of all, He's a son. Cowboys aren't born. They're discovered. There's a cowboy in all of us. There is a brave spirit. There is a bold determination. And most of all, there is a beloved son of God the Father. This is the Catholic Cowboy Way. Left to ourselves, life will buck us off. Tuned into the Father through the Spirit of His Son dwelling in our hearts, life is fun and we get the job done.
