One cold winter Alan Washburn comes to Cody Camber's cattle ranch to work. Alan was homeless. He wanted to work, have a warm place to sleep, and earn his living. He wants nothing to do with mission shelters, church, or religion. Alan enjoys ranch work. Then a bullet hits Alan and he nearly bleeds to death. Later a bullet kills Cody's best horse. Wildfire begins on Cody's ranch. Cody and Alan help fight the fire. That fire spreads and burns down Aimi and her husband's home on their ranch. A bullet from the same rifle kills Aimi's husband. Alan helps both Cody and Aimi with ranch work.
