Somebody Else's Dream
Somebody Else’s Dream takes a look into the rock culture through the eyes of The Buoys. Their hit song, “Timothy,” (Sceptor, 1971) penned by Tony Award-winning playwright, Rupert Holmes, was banned on major radio stations because of references to cannibalism, connected to the 1963 Sheppton, PA mining disaster. After The Buoys morphed into Dakota, they became the warm-up act for Queen on a sold-out 35-city tour, ending in a three-day, standing-room-only Madison Square Garden concert. Dakota’s Runaway (MCA, 1980) has been considered a landmark AOR album, especially in the European market. Somebody Else’s Dream depicts a cautionary tale of substance abuse, the pitfalls of fame, and the actual price of the rock and roll fantasy.
