At one time it must have been a spectacular home, one of the most beautiful in the state. But age, vagrants and vandals had taken a toll. Located in a remote rural area, the mansion had been abandoned more than a hundred years ago. Shoulder-high scrub brush had grown up around the mansion. Windows had been broken. Vagrants had kept warm in the winter by building a fire in an old wash tub inside.
