Measuring Up: The Metrics Of Jesus

Large numbers of Christians today assume that Jesus is automatically pleased with the way they are conducting their lives. That is a dangerous assumption, and it flies in the face of Jesus' own words. These people either don't think much about the issue or they are guided more by notions than by God's Word. They know that Christ died for their sins - past, present and future - and that they can add nothing to their salvation. Therefore, everything is cool between them and God...they think. The fact is, Jesus is very concerned about how we conduct our lives. Our eternal acceptance by Christ is no guarantee that He is pleased with us. Christ has not abandoned us to our own whims and speculations on this topic. In Revelation 2 and 3 He dictated letters to seven first-century churches. He was giving them the results of His performance reviews of each. These letters are filled with approvals and disapprovals, and are based on His standards or "metrics." Those standards are still in force today. "Measuring Up" is a book about how to discern whether or not Jesus is pleased with us. The goal of this book is to encourage readers to examine their lives in light of the specific "metrics" laid out by Jesus in Rev. 2 and 3, to persevere in the right things, to repent of the wrong things, and to know by conviction and experience that He is Lord.
