Included in the Fable of Contents are segments on the Tony Burns Riot, the Caning of Senator Sumner, the Kansas-Nebraska Act, the Ostend Manifesto, the Erie Peanut War, the Perry Mission to Japan, troubles in Utah, and the Elections of 1852 and 1856. Pierce was a Doughface who never warmed up to Lincoln. The New Hampshire President liked to have a few drinks now and then.
