Although our beliefs shape our lives, they are only personal beliefs and do not necessarily hold true for others. They have been passed on to us from our parents, teachers, and authority figures and we believe them. Throughout my life, I have been fortunate to interact with countless individuals. The nature of my work has enabled me to live and work in many different parts of the world. I have always had a strong interest in people and have consistently tried to observe their habits, their attitudes, and how they cope with life in different situations. In addition to my deep interest in these individuals as friends, a large motive for my interest has always been to learn from the life events that my fellow friends and acquaintances were dealing with. By observing how individuals dealt with life's problems and noting results of the actions they took, I hoped that I would not have to repeat the same mistakes in my life. I knew that I would be subject to my own unique set of life's ups and downs, but by observing other peoples' actions in similar situations, and by examining the end result of those actions, I hoped to save myself the pain of making some wrong decisions. By evaluating my experiences over the years, I have concluded that events that are deemed to be good or bad do not turn out that way because of the nature of the events, but rather from the way that the events are dealt with. I found that many people are unhappy much of the time, but not because the individual's lot in life is lacking in any way. The unhappiness evolves from another source -- a source which is hidden to the individual. Many friends have had more material wealth than I while many have had less. Some have had better health than I while others have been ill. There have been many differences in each individual's lifestyle compared to my own. The main difference, however, between most people that I have come in contact with is that I have gained increasingly more happiness throughout my life. I attribute this blessing to my observations of certain individuals and also to the particular way that my life unfolded. I feel I have had the good fortune to have been presented with events that have enabled me to find keys to living life in a way that offers joy. I know that this information can be used to bring happiness to anyone with a will to use it and I know the importance of being happy as opposed to being sad or depressed. The Book Of Life offers practical ideas and useful exercises on creating a better life, which are presented in a down to earth, easy to read manner. The understanding you may gain will enable you to break free of the beliefs that are holding you back. This book can literally change your life.
