Irma Krause

Following an unhappy childhood, in which her father and two brothers are killed during the war, Irma Krause is left in the care of a callous and unloving mother. At university she meets Gustav Adler and they enter into a passionate affair and become involved with a growing dissident movement culminating in an uprising in East Germany in June 1953.
