This is set in Australia 2044. The overpopulation of the planet and overdependence on modern medicine has resulted in the assumed natural emergence of a highly resistant strain of a mysterious infectious disease that has devastated society across the nation, leaving very few survivors. In reality, the disease was covertly planted in Australia by the newly formed Unified Earth Government (UEG) with all intentions to exploit the isolated continent and observe how a population could be controlled through the use of biological weapons. With the potential success of the trial in Australia, the end result aimed to ensure the survival of the human race through the mass genocide of billions, restoring Earth's population to a sustainable level. Families of Blood and Water, set ten months after the initial outbreak, follows the different journeys of two families. A broken family is in a desperate struggle to survive. After the disappearance of their wife/mother, Zach Stone and his children--Matthew, Sienna, Josie, and Noah--find refuge in a community in the countryside far west of Sydney, but they were soon after separated. All members of the family find themselves relying on the honesty of strangers in the hope of one day uniting once more. Sienna, Josie, and Noah are rescued by a pair of troubled men--a widower, Leo, and his younger brother, Daniel--who are trying to repair their own relationship.
