Dr. Noland Redford, a physical Hemingway lookalike, and his group of look-alikes were already part of festival legend due to their famous ability to party well. Now, as he lies in the bushes at Key West's Hemingway House and Museum with a screwdriver in his back, Key West Detective David Sharkey, had to figure out who killed him and why. First on his list is Noland's new young trophy wife who has a weak alibi and a big life insurance policy that gives her a lot of reasons to kill. The contestant's wives had other explanations that involve a hunky tennis partner. A young sassy insurance investigator named Chichi Ramirez shows up in town to determine if there is reason to deny the policy benefits under policy conditions related to murder. As she unfolds her theory of tangents, or relationships, the festival has 95 contestants starting to get nervous about death at the contest. Meanwhile the trophy wife has been referred to attorney R. Sloan, because she fears that the detective has already decided that the spouse HAS to be the killer. Sloan brings in local PI Jerry Jamison to help find the real killer.
