Grace: Stories We Tell Ourselves

Several weeks after Mom told me about the accident I had a dream. And in that dream Uncle Charlie came to me and said something that I want to tell you. He stated that he was OK. He said that before he died he had discovered that he had cancer and that it couldn't be treated. He told me that had he not died in the car accident he would have suffered for many months. He was more afraid of suffering than of dying, and, as it turned out, he was spared from that. Whether or not Uncle Dan believed me, he nodded his head as if he did.
