Every era has a segment of the population which is disliked. For example, during and after WWII, Americans did not like people of Japanese descent because Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The unkind nickname for Japanese people was "Jap." While many Japanese citizens tried to kill Americans, some did not. This story, The Jap, was written towards the end of World War II by an American Naval officer who was stationed near Japan. This serviceman later became Helen's husband. She hope that you see the parallels between 1944 and the conflicts of today.
