Cry, Baby, Cry, by debut author and poet Lauren E. Bishop is the story of two women, one young and the other older who languishes in disappointment and the unlikely chance of becoming a mother. Young 17 year old Taylor is stuck in a relationship she hates, with a man who doesn't care for her. He was caught cheating and after mustering up the courage, Taylor breaks off their relationship, only to later learn that she is pregnant. Switching between the two characters of Taylor and Renee in each chapter, Renee being Taylor's aunt, the story unravels a life of despair and jealousy as Renee has longed for a child her entire life but was told that due to major surgery that had taken place earlier, she cannot have children. When young Taylor, her niece gives birth, Renee becomes jealous, envious of her childbearing niece and takes drastic dangerous measures. Told between two points of view, teenager and middle age woman comes a story of life lessons, tears, and joy as a human being is brought into this world against the backdrop of what measures Renee takes to get this baby.
