The Burning Barrel

The novel is inspired by two encounters -- one when I was only 12 years old. I saw an envelope on my grandmother's side table with a first and last name. Startled, I realized that "gramma" had a name, a unique personality. I began to wonder what it is like to lose our personal story in the wrinkles and arthritis. Then, a few years later, she began to speak of her first love -- a man she insisted she still loved more than 70 years later. So I wrapped the story around that lost love and the lose of one's self.
