Jay Martinez hails from Newark, NJ by way of Dayton, OH. A graduate of Wilberforce University, and Co-founder of the Metaphorically Speaking Collective. When Jay is not competing in slam competitions or performing on stage, he is hosting monthly showcases while conducting workshops and seminars. True to his rough upbringing, and love for hip hop culture, he culminates a unique style of recital that is quick pace, informative and gritty.
