The Oldest Don: A Justinian Kase Mystery

Justinian Kase's old friend, aging FBI agent Harry Watson, has been offered a chance to save what's left of his career with this new assignment. It sounded like a simple undercover operation, but when the people he's supposed to observe begin dying, he calls in the help of Kase for a little backup. Chicago is so far from Harry's jurisdiction in Phoenix, and his cover is so deep, that he cannot utilize the local resources of the FBI or US Marshal's Service. The ex-mobsters he's monitoring have all of the advantages and he hopes that Kase can level the playing field for him. Using his CI's and providing electronic support, Kase discovers the fact that the Witness Protection Program has a few serious breaches and the former bad guys are not as invisible as the system thinks they are. He has to warn Harry before his friend becomes another Chicago statistic or lead story on the WGN 6:00 news.
