In the Steampunk Old West, Vincent comes across a giant puddle in a courtyard and sees the reflection of a girl instead of his own reflection. Her name is Leena, and she's a Celt who lives in England in 500 AD. Vincent and Leena grow up communicating with each other through the puddle for years, until their friendship grows into something more, and they vow to find each other. But complications ensue when Leena is captured by the Saxons, who have taken over her land, and Vincent is wanted for accidental murder. Desperate to escape, they each discover that the puddle is, in fact, a portal, and end up unknowingly trading places. Lost in each other's lands, they encounter Old West gangs, the original Arthur of the King Arthur legends, and an eerily similar battle between settlers and natives, as they tirelessly search for each other across time, in this first novel of the Puddle Jumper Trilogy.
