As they face wilderness perils, the feisty schoolteacher, prissy matron, and retired madam bicker constantly. The schoolteacher falls in love with an Indian who comes to their aid. Rescue attempts - by rope, canoe and hot-air balloon - fail. Back at The White Buffalo saloon, drinking 'round the clock, customers concoct a story based on their erroneous sightings, convincing themselves that the women have become amazon-like terrorists. Hordes of curiosity seekers flock to the scene. To cover up its negligence, the stagecoach company comes up with a cockeyed story that pleases everyone. Meantime, the women are doing quite well on their own.
