Bona-Fide

Bona-Fide is a story set in the late 1960's and told from the perspective of 10 yr. old Sassy who lives a cloistered life deep in the Ozarks with her family. When her mother falls ill Sassy and her siblings, Earldean 11, Ed Earl 6 and 2 yr. old Learline set out on foot to find their father to bring him home to help. Unsure as to which way to go they end up days later in the mountainside town of Whisper Ridge, where a host of colorful townsfolk do their best to help these little waifs to locate him. Knowing their parents only as Mama and Daddy, they knew no last name to identify him. Though it never mattered before, now more than ever Sassy needs to be known by more than just her nickname. She needs her real name, her Bona-fide one.
